DIC is a fine chemicals company with a top share in printing inks, organic pigments, and PPS compounds in the global market. Established in 1908 as a manufacturer of printing inks, DIC has capitalised on its capabilities in organic pigments and synthetic resins to build a broad portfolio across markets such as automotive, electronics, food, and housing. DIC operates in more than 60 countries and territories around the world today.

DIC’s manufacturing facility in Moorabbin, Victoria, is over 50 years old and recently received a significant investment in new equipment as well as substantial new building works and improvements.

Part of this investment included the requirement for upgraded flooring, specifically epoxy ESD flooring. This highly technical coating required expert advice and installation to ensure it would conform to their global performance standards and cope with the demanding environment and traffic of the facility. As one of the leading applicators of ESD flooring in Australia, we were more than happy to assist in rejuvenating the aged and stained concrete with a brand new tough, chemically resistant, non-slip ESD floor.

The project was conducted in 4 stages over a 6-month period, balancing relocation of vital equipment onto newly completed floors to allow for production to continue whilst we installed the epoxy ESD flooring.

Upon consultation and assessment of the facility and its regulatory requirements, we assisted DIC in selecting a heavy-duty epoxy-based Flowcrete ESD system. This was tailored to the unique requirements of the facility by combining increased thickness to address the old concrete’s pitted surface while being able to withstand the heavy industrial forklift and palletised traffic movement.
