Heavy-Duty Flooring FAQs

Need help? Get in touch now for a free, no obligation consultation.

Heavy duty resin floors are thicker and more highly filled with impact or crush resistant aggregate than normal epoxy floors. This makes them more of a mortar than a coating, and therefore it’s necessary to hand trowel them down rather than rake them out or roll them out. This increased thickness and higher compressive strength due to the ratio of fill versus resin being higher makes them super tough.

Due to the increased need for highly skilled labour and the extra time it takes to install a heavy duty floor, combined with higher material costs due to higher thickness, heavy duty floors can be comparatively expensive. However, the long term protection offered compared to having to pay for damaged concrete floors, makes heavy duty a cost-effective and smart solution.

Yes, if you know that a certain area will be regularly subjected to high impact, you can place a section of heavy duty floor in that area, and use a normal floor coating surrounding out, we can feather the adjoining finish up to it, eliminating any steps due to change in level.

Due to the highly filled aggregate composition bound together with clear resin, heavy duty floors generally have the appearance of the aggregate they contain. They can, however, be overcoated with a solid colour coating, but most customers find this an unnecessary expense.
