CSL Australia is Australia’s national plasma fractionator, ensuring the reliable supply of high-quality plasma products to Australia and Asia Pacific. CSL Behring required pharmaceutical-standard flooring in their all-new manufacturing facility in Broadmeadows, north of Melbourne, and of course, we were keen to assist.

With our expertise in pharmaceutical and biotech industry flooring, we ensured compliance and safety while delivering precision project management.

The construction of the new three-level facility of approximately 12 500m2, including a main warehouse expansion, began in 2019. As a pharmaceutical facility, a high standard of fit-out and finishes was required in order to meet GMP regulations and the necessary certification requirements of the FDA while also needing to accommodate a very complex build schedule.

This involved preparing and sealing the floor, suspending the normal sequencing to allow the placement of sandwich panel walls, followed by the application of the self-levelling epoxy layer and coving to wall junctions. The sequence was then suspended again to allow installation of various items of complex equipment before returning to the site, applying coving to equipment legs, and applying finishing coats of epoxy roll coating in various colours.

2-3mm of self-levelling epoxy flooring was installed across 17,000m2, and epoxy roll coat was installed across 9,000m2, while our Ascoat flexible coving totalled 7,000 lineal metres ( 7 km!)
