Protect Your People and Minimise Risk

Manufacturing facilities are required to meet a range of health and safety criteria to ensure a hygienic environment that is safe for both the product and the people working. Over time, water, grease and chemical exposure can deteriorate unprotected concrete floors, while high foot and equipment traffic can lead to cracking or chipping. This, in turn, can create slip and hygiene hazards. But with high-quality flooring used for the right application, you can mitigate these risks and make your floors last.

Our epoxy and resin coatings are extremely tough and hardwearing and tailored to meet the unique demands of your facility, with the added benefits of being:

Manufacturing Facility Flooring FAQs

For large surface areas, epoxy flooring is a good cost-effective choice for a manufacturing floor. Although roll coats are good, increasing the thickness by applying a trowelled base coat, even in most demanding areas, can enhance the performance of the floor. Adding a polyurethane topcoat can provide improved scratch and abrasion resistance in addition to chemical resistance and colour stability.

Using dedicated colours to create different zones can enhance the functionality and, more importantly, the safety of the facility. It is also a great idea to create dedicated walkways and dedicated forklift areas. This can provide a visual que to all personnel and improve safety awareness.

Ascoat can apply line marking out of similar material used in the overall floor for a longer-term solution. Although more expensive and slower to apply than sprayed on line marking, it is a far better long term solution.

For large surface areas, it is more efficient to use a walk behind floor scrubber that dispenses water and detergent/degreaser on the floor and can rinse and remove the water by vacuum as it goes. This should be done regularly, daily, if possible, in order to maintain a bright, clean and long-lasting floor. Daily cleaning also reduces the build-up of oils and greases or other contaminants, which may become harder to remove when they accumulate over time.
